Mission of Mercy

At least one third of the world’s children live in extreme poverty-they are hungry, cannot attend school, in poor health, and neglected.  Mission of Mercy is a child sponsorship organization helping to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children in poverty-stricken areas of the world. Through their ministry programs, children receive food, education, medical aid and hope in Jesus Christ.

Mission of Mercy is an organization that desires to give children opportunities, not handouts -opportunities to get a good education, to develop social skills, to be healthy and most of all to grow spiritually.  By doing this, the organization believes that they will be able to make a better life for themselves, and hopefully, put an end to their family’s cycle of poverty.

Vision
To see the children of developing nations, who live in poverty, experience transformation and wholeness through God's love.

Mission
To equip children in developing nations to reach their God-given potential by creating opportunities for spiritual, physical, social, mental and emotional development.

History

The roots of Mission of Mercy go back to 1954 when missionaries Mark and Huldah Buntain arrived in Calcutta, India to serve one year among Calcutta's poor and needy. Mark served for 35 years until his death in 1989. Huldah continues to be involved in ministry in Calcutta.

Mission of Mercy was incorporated in 1982. In January 1990, Mission of Mercy merged with Bethesda Ministries, Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a division of Bethesda Ministries, Mission of Mercy's ministry focus began to grow. Today Mission of Mercy is working in 22 nations of the world, providing help and hope to more than 37,000 children through child sponsorship.
